Traditional games related with Math

Scuola dell'infanzia Via Monte Spada Quartucciu Italy

Traditional games

Through playing and playing different strategies and skills related to mathematics are implemented.

In our international journey we wanted to offer our partners an ancient game known in Sardinia as Su Barralliccu, which, as often happens, has affinities with other games present in the Mediterranean area.

Playing su barralliccu was a lot of fun and with just a few materials you can recreate the typical square top.

Collaboration with other schools has also allowed us to discover and try out new games suggested by schools in Turkey, Greece, Estonia and Spain.

The Spanish Juego del panuelo in Italy is called flag and requires a great ability to concentrate, listen, respect many rules, spatial vision, readiness and team spirit.
And it's extremely fun.

How funny it is to discover that you can count through a game proposed by Turkey.
Fox, fox what time is it? brings into play our body that listens and counts its steps towards the goal, that is the fox.
Also in Italy we have a similar game called "Regina, reginella" in which it is the queen who indicates the number of steps to reach the castle and the way in which the steps will be taken, i.e. very small like an ant or giant like an elephant etc.

Another game proposed by Turkey, the Game of the Three Stones, allowed us to experiment with our first strategic skills.

We have also created a digital version of this game for you to try.
